As far as I can remember, I’ve always loved to read. I could read in two languages before I could speak either of them properly, and I have very clear memories of getting in trouble as a kid because I was reading with a flashlight under my covers instead of going to sleep. (Sorry, parents.) In fact, that might be why I am an insomniac with terrible sleeping habits—mystery solved!
My love of reading took me to get a degree in English Literature (with a minor in French literature), and a diploma in Book & Magazine publishing. I’m currently working as a magazine editor in Toronto. I’m a wife and a fur mama, too!
One downside to my job is that I’m always reading for work—but I’m rarely reading fiction or anything for fun. This blog is my way of making sure I take time to read things that I love (and things that I don’t yet know that I love).
My favourite genres to read are contemporary fiction, bestsellers, historical fiction, romance, YA, mysteries, memoirs and autobiographies (especially humorous ones), and I’m slowly getting into psychological thrillers. I try to “cleanse the palette” as one might say after I read something a little more dense with something light and fun.
I’m calling myself a modest reader because I know that I’ll never be able to read 100 books a year (heck, it’ll be a miracle if I get to 50), but I’m looking forward to having you join me on my adventure.
